Today we would like to introduce you to TJ Michaelz, Director of Events here at Occasions Events & Design. TJ has been with Occasions for over 2 years and we just couldn't imagine not having her on our team. We asked TJ a few questions to help clients get to know her a bit more.
How do you balance your career at Occasions Events & Design and your family?
Balance is a very crazy thing around the Michaelz household so honestly, we call it Michaelz Madnezz. In all seriousness, it is really all about making a plan and working a plan. Being able to plan, coordinate, and manage our life in every aspect the same as doing so for a client, every day has a timeline and has to be orchestrated with precision.
What are 3 words to describe Occasions Events & Design?
Professional – Every person at Occasions takes this industry and their profession very seriously. We love what we do and do what we love!
Thoughtful – The love of the industry and caring for each client is what makes every event a complete success. Things get hectic, I know not only with myself but also with our complete staff we sometimes think about the things brides, event planners, organizers, and others might forget.
Fun – Simple, but oh so true. We love everything about events and event design and we each have our own niche that we came from. The best part about it is we mix well together, we all get the job done but we can have a great time with each other and with our clients.
What is your role at Occasions Events & Design?
My role at Occasions is Director of Events, but like many of us, I wear many hats. My main role directly works with both Blake and Brian to assure that every event is a success and that every detail is covered. It is to ensure that whatever particular aspect of the event Occasions is covering whether it is a simple Day of Coordinating package or a complete Planning with DJ Services, it is my role to make sure every part of that event is in place and ready to go.
What have you gained from working at Occasions Events & Design?
The most valuable thing I have gained from working at Occasions is additional knowledge. I am a firm believer in never stop learning and working with Blake and everyone at Occasions has continued to teach me new and exciting things along with helping to add to my own style as well.
What drew you to Occasions Events & Design originally?
Like with most things in our Michaelz Madnezz universe, Brian Michaelz pulled me into this one. Brian originally was doing some freelance Officiating and DJ work for Blake and we had not merged businesses. Brian had mentioned that Blake was looking for additional Event Planners and if I was interested and of course I was. From the very beginning, it was great, me and Blake work well together which led to us all merging companies these many years later to form Occasions Event and Design.
Any random facts you could share with us?
Random facts, oh this could be scary, oh here is one my oldest child is 31 and my youngest is 10. We actually have 5 children, 3 are grown and have started families of their own, and I and Brian prayed for just one more and God gave us twins which are now 10. I really wanted to be a police officer and went through all of the training etc including sniper gun training and was 1 point away from a sniper. Wink wink, yes I still shoot!
Anything else you would like to share with us?
We joke around about the Michaelz Madnezz and how crazy things are but in all honestly, we love everything we do. The recent events with the pandemic that has affected the first half of the year almost devastated the event industry but all of us at Occasions are excited about what the future holds. With the recent merger and all of the exciting things that are happening at Occasions Event and Design we are looking forward to the second half of 2020, and many years in the future. As they say, the best is yet to come!
