TJ MICHAELZ

Director of Events/ Managing Partner/ Owner

TJ’s love of organization and planning has followed her forever and always carried over into her work. Working as a project and office manager in the entertainment sector, she had the opportunity to plan conferences, concerts, and meetings for some of the most noted leaders, entertainers, and organizations in California, New Mexico, and Texas.

As a wedding and events planner, TJ has been able to hone in on her passion for helping clients create truly fantastic experiences. “There is nothing more satisfying than knowing my services made my clients’ day better.

BRIAN MICHAELZ

Director of Operations/ Owner

Brian Michaelz has been a part of the wedding and entertainment industry for many years. His love and passion for weddings was sparked when a dear friend asked Brian to officiate her wedding and he has never looked back.

He brings fresh and bright energy, passion, and professionalism to his work while customizing the perfect wedding ceremony for his couples. His philosophy is that the wedding ceremony is the heart and soul of your wedding. His ceremonies provide a natural expression of yourselves with a genuine reflection of everything that makes your union so unique and so very special. Brian Michaelz prides himself on working with couples of all religions, ages, and backgrounds.

In addition to officiating weddings, Michaelz is skilled in the fine art of music and entertainment. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Production and a Master’s in Entertainment Business, he has filled the dual role of Officiant and DJ for many wedding parties across the nation.  Originally building their audio-visual production company, Michaelz Media, Brian and TJ have been helping couples, corporate event planners, and party-goers since 2011. 

After moving back to Texas in 2015, Brian began working as an Officiant with Wedding Industry Professional Blake Nash.  In early 2020 negotiations began to merge Occasions Event and Design and Michaelz Media to become a one-stop-shop for events.  As the companies merged, Brian took on his new role as Owner and Director of Operations. He also handles the entertainment, disc jockeys, and audio-visual production for Occasions Event and Design. 

 When Brian Michaelz is not officiating ceremonies or spinning the tunes he enjoys spending time with his wife TJ, their twin boys Sean and Chet, chocolate Labrador Ruckus, traveling, entertaining, and much more. His wonderful disposition ensures that all of your guests will love him and your ceremony.

Blake Herrera

Founder/ Certified Wedding Planner/ Consultant

Blake Herrera is one of the Founders of Occasions Events & Design and still stays involved as our Certified Wedding Planner and Consultant.  Blake has a long history in the wedding and event industry originally forming "Weddings by Blake" many years ago. 

Blake and Brian's paths crossed in 2015 as Brian became a freelance Officiant for "Weddings by Blake".  In 2019 after the world was shaken by the pandemic, Blake and Brian sat down to talk about merging their two companies and Occasions Events & Design was formed as a merger between Weddings by Blake and Michaelz Media. 

Blake's attention to detail, his eye for design, and his A-Z planning style ensure all the aspects of every event are taken care of.  Over the past few months, Blake has taken on a new role as a newlywed himself and is now working to spend time with his young family. 

Emily Ruvalcaba

Office Manager

Emily has been working with TJ, Brian, and the Occasions team for many years now.  Emily was not a direct team member of Occasions but has always jumped in to assist when needed and on various other projects with Brian and TJ.  Emily has always had an eye for design and her attention to detail and organization is what sparked TJ and Brian to hire her as their Office Manager for Occasions Events & Design.  

 

Emily married her husband Andrew in 2019 and moved to Texas from California.  Together they have twin girls Elise and Audrey and love spending family time together.  Emily has now taken on the role of Occasions Office Manager. She may not be able to be at the wedding but she is still able to make dreams come true, behind the scenes.
